The Feathers

I came in at 5pm on Wednesday for the tea time special, and the food was lovely. As I was leaving, I thanked one staff member, but she ignored me several times while gossiping with the bar staff. I found that rude and unprofessional. It’s basic courtesy to respond politely to customers.

I won’t return. My first room hadn’t been cleaned properly, so I was moved because of the dust, but the new one was still a mess, with bad carpet stains. The curtains gave very little privacy. I got no refund because I didn’t answer my phone, even though I’d called ahead about check-in and couldn’t get through. When I did reach Jacob, he gave me false information about the check-in time. Booking.com listed the last check-in as 21:30. It’s a joke.

We had food and drinks there in September 2025, my husband, two friends and I. The food was average at best. Three days later, we received a Civil Enforcement fine for £100 for parking in their designated parking area. I contacted Feathers Hotel by phone and email and provided proof of our purchases, but they aren’t able or willing to help overturn the fine. Surely the hotel has some control over its own car park. We’re not the first to be caught out by this disgraceful practice. We’ll never go back and definitely can’t recommend it. Please be wary.

The room was clean and tidy, though a few cosmetic things need sorting, like bathroom fittings that need securing and rubber plugs in the basin and bath that look out of place. Even so, it was very good value for money. The food and service were excellent, and breakfast had a really good range of choices.
