April Lodge

We had a great breakfast, just right before a day out exploring, and the location made it easy to walk into town and to Poole Harbour. We stayed two nights in the Brownsea room at April Lodge. The whole place was spotless, well run and bright. Wendy and Phil were warm and welcoming without being intrusive. We had our toddler with us, and the highchair, baby monitor, cutlery and toys were all really useful and thoughtful. I can’t recommend it enough. We’ll be back, and I’m looking forward to trying the hot tub in summer.

Wendy is a fantastic owner, so friendly and welcoming, and she put out a lovely breakfast each morning. The house is beautiful, with fresh, comfortable rooms, plus a well decorated guest kitchen and dining area. We loved the hot tub. I stayed with my 10-year-old daughter, who also had a great time with the games and toys in the children’s area. Such a lovely B&B in a great location. I couldn’t recommend it more.

We were in Poole for a wedding, and our Sandbanks room was more like a junior suite. It had a big bath, a separate walk-in shower, and his-and-hers basins. The bed was comfortable, and the room was well coordinated, with a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee facilities. Wendy and Phil were very friendly, and Wendy took time to chat and showed real interest in what we had to say. There was an extensive continental breakfast, though I didn’t make the most of it after the big wedding meal and buffet the night before. If we’re in this area again, we wouldn’t look elsewhere. For the price, it would be hard to beat April Lodge.

The house has been beautifully refurbished, and the 'Harley bar, where we had breakfast, is really well set up. Our room was clean and spacious, with tea and coffee facilities. Wendy and Phil were welcoming, and the ferry was only five minutes away, which suited us perfectly. It was too chilly to try the hot tub this time, but it sounds like a great option in warmer weather. We’d definitely stay again.
