I stopped by for breakfast at 0830 on a Tuesday, even though the pub wasn’t open then. They do B&B and welcome everyone for breakfast. The landlord and his wife were proper old-school, and my food was cooked to order after I chose from the list. I had a five-item fry-up for £5, with tea extra, though you can pick what you like. Good ingredients, cooked well. You won’t get better than this. They had one real ale on, Bridport Copper, so I’ll have to come back later in the week and try it. Many thanks, guys.

We stayed one night last Saturday after seeing a show at the Lighthouse Theatre, about a 10-15 minute walk away. We had a drink there when we got back. It’s a really lovely local pub, with friendly, helpful staff. We’d stay again if we were in the area.

The rooms are great, all en suite, and a good fit if you’re catching a ferry in the morning. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order from 9-10. The pub isn’t open every day and is closed Monday and Tuesday. Food is cooked fresh, and Sundays can get busy for a roast, so it’s advisable to phone ahead for a table. During the week it’s OK. The pub isn’t in the town centre, but it’s very close to the main area.

Forget the hype and hysteria around the Devonshire. This pub has one of the best pints of Guinness I’ve ever had. Great staff, a superb pub and a beautiful pint.

A lovely breakfast, and a great couple running the pub. It’s one of the last free houses in Poole, so go support it and enjoy breakfast at the same time! ❤️
