There’s a £2 parking charge, paid into the National Trust honesty box to support the area. A coffee van is meant to be in the National Trust parking area, though it’s closed about half the time. Port Quin itself is a lovely cove with a rocky beach and a stream running down it, plus great views from the cliffs. We come back to Cornwall every year and usually paddleboard while we’re here. It’s become much busier with tourists over the past four years. This year we saw Nicola Walker (UK Actress). If you’re visiting rather than staying, there are no toilets, cafés, buses or other services. You may be able to ask someone for Wi-Fi so you can call a taxi or 999. Still a 5/5 for us.

There’s a slipway for launching kayaks, paddle boards and boats, with a fee. Paddle boards are £2 through an honesty box. The harbour is lovely, though parking is limited and the corners are very tight to drive around.

The place itself is lovely, but it seems to have turned into a stop for coffee and cake. People appear to be missing the beach walks, the paths over the cliffs with views back down to the shore, and the trails, while sitting around and taking up car park spaces that beach and cliff visitors need. Why does it feel like women can't go anywhere without finding a tea and cake cafe?

The car park holds about 20 cars if everyone parks sensibly, and it’s £2 in the honesty box. Port Quin feels idyllic, with a long, calm inlet and kayaks to hire. It’s wonderfully quiet, with birdsong, a babbling brook and waves lapping against the rocks.

There aren’t really any facilities here, and it’s best to visit at low tide if you want to look into the caves in the cliffs. We had a great time taking in the scenery on the coastal walk from the Lundy Bay car park to this nice little cove.
