Sea View Cottage

The double bed sagged in the middle, and we couldn't get the log burner to draw when the weather turned to gales and pouring rain. The cottage also felt cold and a bit damp, and the stairs inside and out are very steep. We stayed all ten days because we love the area, and were rewarded with two fine days. That left us spending a lot of time trying to keep warm. I should have paid closer attention to the reviews, but we were eager to get away. The cottage was very clean and well equipped.

The back terrace was a delightful place to sit in the sun and look down towards the sea. We had a very enjoyable few days here in September with my sister and niece. The cottage is comfortable, welcoming and well equipped, on a quiet road but an easy walk from shops and places to eat. It's also well placed for exploring Portland and the surrounding area.

The terrace was fabulous, secure for our little dog, and we ate breakfast out there every morning. There's also a lovely quiet park across the road for a quick dog walk before bed. Parking on the street was easy every day, including loading and unloading. The place was comfy, clean, quiet and secure, with comfortable beds, a big TV with a Fire Stick for Amazon and Netflix, fast WiFi, a well-equipped kitchen and a nice shower. It's not all glossy and the stairs need care, but for the price it ticked every box for us. We loved Seaview Cottage and have come home very happy. We'll be back. Graham, the owner, was really helpful and informative, and the information before arrival was outstanding. The location is great, just a two-minute walk down to Chiswell. Portland was fantastic too. We loved everywhere we ate: Quiddles, The Taste Cafe, The Cove Inn, The Crabhouse Cafe and Portland Pizza. My sister had an amazing facial at Ukiyo in Easton. We loved the 501 open top bus to Portland Bill, bought great seafood from Dorset Shellfish on the industrial estate, took a lovely boat trip on The Fleet Observer, and had an amazing private swim lesson in the Cove with Fay at Jurassiccoastswimming.

Graham kept us updated about every little detail, and communication with the host was great. The location is great, and the cottage has stunning views. It's a charming old place, full of character. We'd definitely come back, especially in summer.
