Aaranmore Lodge Bed & Breakfast

Six nights at Aaranmore Lodge for the NW200 and I really didn’t want to leave. The food, accommodation and atmosphere were all great, and the hosts were as lovely as you could hope for. I arrived as a customer and left feeling like a friend. Thanks to the whole team 👍🏼

The breakfast at Aaranmore Lodge BnB was a highlight: superb eggs, sausages, bacon and mushrooms, plus excellent gluten-free sourdough. They cater for coeliacs 👌 Our small twin room with my partner covered the basics well. There was space for our luggage and clothes, two dozen coat hangers, a heated towel rack, and a cosy, modern but homely feel. The beds were comfortable with medium firmness, and sockets were tucked behind the nightstand. The lounge is just before the dining room, and there are two electric car chargers. You need the app and to add funds to your account, but using them can save you some money. The Royal Legion Pub is a six-minute walk away, and The Station Bar, with live music, is about ten minutes on foot. Main St, Town Hall and Barry's are along the way. We had a lovely time in Portrush, and booking through the website may get you the best deal.

Karen welcomed us warmly when we arrived, even though we got there later than planned. The hotel had sent us instructions for getting in at night. In the morning, we had a delicious breakfast cooked to order with coffee and tea, and Karen shared a useful tip about parking and visiting the Giants Causeway. We’d highly recommend the place, even for a one-night stay.

We only got to stay one night, though I’d happily have spent a few more. It was very nice and clean, and the hostess was so kind and accommodating at breakfast. The shower was small but recently renovated, with a high-tech box and power button to start it. I’d trade that for a little shelf space, though; there wasn’t anywhere to put things in the shower, as was the case at most places we stayed. There seemed to be just enough parking spaces for the rooms. Would love to return.
