We stayed with my family in a family room on 12/08/23. We'd read the reviews before booking and had high hopes, but the room wasn't clean. There was body hair in the bath drain, dirt around the place, and lots of dust. The wooden floor dipped in the middle, and I kept tripping on it. We didn't use the bath because of the hygiene issue, and there wasn't access to a shower either. The sitting area in the back garden also serves as a smoking area, and the ashtray was full of cigarette butts. At breakfast, two teenagers were preparing and serving the food. Our sausages were burnt, the egg was hard as a rock, and the potato bread was burnt too. We contacted the owner before posting this, but got no reply. We also left a review on Booking.com, but it isn't showing. It seems only the good reviews appear there. Maybe this place was decent at some point, but we had a bad experience.

The hosts were so warm and welcoming, and the home was especially lovely for kids and families. Our rooms were decorated so cutely, and the beds were comfy and everything perfectly clean. Breakfast was nice too. The welcome brownies and drinks made the stay feel extra nice.

The people here were fantastic, so warm and welcoming, and the rooms were super clean with comfy beds. The location couldn't be handier, with a petrol station and restaurant across the road. Breakfasts were epic, and Scott's freshly made scones were amazing. The rooms are a great price too. Could not recommend it enough!

We celebrated my father's 70th at California Lodge and had a great stay. The location was just what we wanted, and the hosts gave us a very welcoming service. The bedrooms were fantastic, with plenty of space and comfort for our family of 20, ranging in age from 7 months to 70. I'd recommend this B&B and will definitely stay again.

The room was lovely, with biscuits, fruit, and tea and coffee waiting for us. It was peaceful and handy for local amenities, and being able to sit outside in the garden was a real plus. The shower cubicle is very small, though. After a long journey, it was also difficult that nobody was there to welcome us and getting a reply took a while.
