Pontins - Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park

The swimming pool was closed all week, and the on-site shop looked nearly empty, though we managed. The arcade looked like the local tip, and there was litter all around the camp. There are plenty of bins, so that seemed more down to visitors' disregard than the site management. I've never seen so much rubbish, quilts left outside chalets and chairs being used as goals. The place is run down, and the way some people treat it doesn't help. I know Pontins is outdated and needs a complete overhaul, and a proper litter pick would help too. The rooms and furniture weren't great when I first came three years ago during COVID, but I made priceless memories with my late mother. I came back to remember her and wasn't disappointed. The rooms were exactly the same, except the old-style sofa bed had been replaced by two single beds, leaving nowhere comfortable to sit apart from the dining chairs. That suited us well enough since we stayed Monday to Friday and were out most of the day, using the room mainly to sleep and maybe eat. We were only there for a few nights on a very inexpensive budget holiday. It could do really well with home improvements and more respect from visitors. Not everyone treats the place badly, but you can see that some do. If you can look past the run-down parts and enjoy the surrounding area, you can still make some amazing memories.

The accommodation isn't great, and people can get carried away playing music late into the night or morning. That’s part of what you should expect at one of these weekends, though. You're paying a pittance for two nights, accommodation and entertainment, so it won't be 5*. We had a fabulous time at the recent 80s weekend, as usual. The staff were great, friendly and helpful throughout, drinks weren't too expensive, and the entertainment was very good. Reading the information before you go helps, since towels and bedding aren't included in the base price and they tell you that in advance. Leave your pretensions at home, get into the atmosphere and enjoy the party!

We wanted a family break for half term and appreciated the price of our three-night booking at Pontins Prestatyn sands Wales. We try to take things as they come and keep our expectations reasonable, but the accommodation was far below what we expected. It was so uncomfortable and we slept so badly that we checked out early. The so-called sofa bed was just a hard wooden bench covered in leather, and the children’s beds had plastic covers and hardly any comfort. The self-catering unit had a rusty cooker that we wouldn't dare use because of the fire risk, and everything else in the room seemed to have had very little, if any, cleaning. The swimming pool and other facilities were still closed. That would be especially disappointing if my children were younger. We would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the holiday, but after a four-hour drive home, all we wanted was to be able to sleep. Instead, the stay was incredibly disappointing and felt like money thrown away. We’re raising these concerns after reading thousands of negative reviews about Pontins parks. Please update the accommodation.

Our apartment was clean and the beds were comfortable, which was all we needed for a place to sleep while exploring North Wales. It was basic and looked like something from a bygone age, but I was pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews. I would have found another hotel if it had been truly awful. We paid £41 for a Monday-to-Friday Sun holiday and didn't use the facilities. We were lucky to have a scorching hot week, but the apartments get really warm when they catch the sun all day. The windows are tiny, so I'd recommend bringing a fan in hot weather.
