You wouldn’t think people were paying over £800 a month for a small flat, given how badly this building is kept. The hallways are filthy, the carpets on every floor are covered in rubbish, and the walls need painting and cleaning. There’s post thrown about as soon as you enter, and rubbish has been left so long that people are piling it on the stairs to the first floor. Flies have become a real problem because it isn’t cleared regularly. The lift looks as if milk has been thrown everywhere, and smells like someone died in it. The whole place is horrid.

Steer clear. The managing agents are shocking, don’t respond, and are happy to keep your deposit without evidence of damage or any receipts.

The basement was full of garbage, and the agency was unresponsive. I also had poor network reception in the building and only one internet provider to choose from, at a higher price. I lived in Charles house for a year and wouldn’t recommend it. I tried to leave early but couldn’t. They advertised it as fully furnished, though it wasn’t, and the furniture was poor quality. Parcels were stolen from the entrance more than once. Homeless people from Preston centre came in through the back door and made a mess. When I moved out, they deducted cleaning costs from my deposit even though I left the flat in better condition than it was when I got the keys.

Save yourself the trouble and don’t rent a flat here. If you’ve already done it, get out of this hellhole as soon as you can.
