Wolfen Mill

You’ll definitely need a car, in my opinion, as the place is out of the way. The area is gorgeous, though, and the building is impressive. There’s a great outdoor space and a decent sized kitchen. All the rooms have a microwave and dishwasher, and there are shared washing and drying facilities downstairs. Would highly recommend 👍

A great venue for a large family get together, and spotlessly clean. The apartments are well equipped, with a lovely lounge, comfortable beds and a good shower. The owners were responsive, and the hot tub is a nice feature. There’s good outdoor seating in the garden, and I liked the doggy bath and shower in the front yard. Free Netflix and Amazon Prime were much appreciated!

A comfortable place for a big group of friends, with everyone having their own apartment. It works well for a stay with kids too. The decor could use a bit of updating to meet current 4-5 star standards.

We’ve gone away for a long weekend every year as a family of 18 and never had a problem until Wolfen Mill’s owners. The rules felt ridiculous. We were told not to use our individual kitchens and to use the main shared one, and there were strict rules about the hot tub. The property says it’s dog friendly, but dogs weren’t allowed to wee or poo on the one lawn and had to be walked to go to the toilet. I’m not a dog whisperer, so I don’t know when my dog needs to go. We were warned that our £500 deposit could be at risk if the dogs barked, and told there would be “big trouble.” There were cameras all over, inside and out, so it was hard to enjoy ourselves without feeling watched. A family member left a jacket behind and tried to arrange collection, but the owner wanted £25 for them to get their own property back. We’d already paid over £4.2k for just three nights. Possibly the most awkward owners we’ve dealt with. I wouldn’t recommend it. Steer clear if you dislike being watched and threatened or want to have fun.
