It was spotless, but the kitchen was awful: just two plates, two forks and two pots. While we were at work, someone also seemed to have been coming into the apartment. We noticed lots of things had been changed without anyone telling us. The worst apartment I’ve ever stayed in. 1/10.
There’s plenty of room at Sykes Cottages, and it’s comfortable, with good facilities on private grounds. We could get to Liverpool easily by ferry, and Chester was about half an hour away. Manchester United ground took about an hour and was well worth a visit. Driving up from the Southwest was mostly motorway and took 3-4 hours with stops.
The owner was friendly, and the price was good. It’s about 15 minutes from central Chester, with a lovely outlook. The room was a good size, and the ensuite was large. It’s in a big detached house, with kitchen access and your own fridge. Watch closely for the entrance, though, as it’s easy to miss.
It was really peaceful and comfortable, almost like being at home. The accommodation was great and close to where we wanted to go.
A great place to stay, and the host gave us a friendly welcome. It felt like home from home, just perfect.
