The Crown Hotel

We paid £95 a night, and I wouldn’t normally complain, but we won’t be returning. On Friday we arrived just after 4 pm and had to use the packed Asda car park. The entrance at the back of the hotel was dirty, with cigarette ends everywhere. Check-in was straightforward, and we were told breakfast was from 8 to 9. The hallway carpets were dirty too. We’d booked a double room with a king-size bed, but the bed wasn’t even queen-size. There was a large hole in the wall covered with plywood, and a used sanitary towel in the bathroom bin. A notice said to leave towels on the floor for fresh ones the next day. We had a great night with our friends, but when we got back around 11, pub noise kept us awake until the band and music stopped. We went down for breakfast at 8 and were told it wouldn’t be served until 8:30 because the chef hadn’t arrived. We had to pour our own tea, and the teapot wasn’t very clean. Breakfast itself was okay. We spent the day at the beach with our friends, then returned around 10:30. There were no clean towels, the bed hadn’t been made, and the tea and coffee hadn’t been replenished. It was less noisy that night.

The Crown is full of history, and our room was clean and fresh. The staff were amazing, and the huge cooked breakfast, along with the other tasty bits, kept us going until four. No complaints at all. Thank you so much, we’d recommend it any day.

We had a spacious family room with everything we needed, including plenty of milk for tea and coffee. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A very good place to stay, and I’d recommend it.

The breakfast was okay, but get there early or it all goes hard and overcooked. There’s no restaurant, so we had to eat out. I came for a relaxing night away, but the TV didn’t work, the room was dusty, and the shower was dirty. Toilet rolls were left on the floor, and the mattress was so uncomfortable. Not worth £85.
