The hosts were great and chatty, and dogs were welcome. I had chicken skewers with a few beers, while the menu also offered several fish dishes, including Monk fish, and a lamb dish. Some mains were available in kid-sized portions, which we needed. We all had a lovely family meal.

There are lovely sunsets and a fabulous view across the estuary from this good bar. The menu is more upmarket than you’d expect for a pub, and the prices reflect that, but the food is good, so we treat ourselves now and then. It can get very busy in the evening, so it’s best to book if you want a meal. Dogs are allowed in the uncarpeted areas.

We only popped in for a drink, then stayed for a late lunch. The specials were excellent, and the food was a cut above the usual pub grub. The staff were very friendly. It’s dog friendly, which doesn’t bother me, and I’d come back if I’m in the area.

We came for the famous Sunday roast. The portions were really generous, with plenty on the plate, and the vegetables and potatoes were nicely cooked. The extra-large Yorkshire pudding and slices of roast beef were really nice, though I found the beef a little chewy. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

They were closing the kitchen in five minutes when we called to ask if they were still serving, but they asked how long we’d take and kept it open for us. We arrived 15 minutes later and were still welcomed. The food was amazing, with generous portions at a very reasonable price. The staff were really friendly too. 10/10, couldn’t recommend it more.
