Crab & Boar

We held a meeting in a private room at The Crab & Boar. The building is great and there’s plenty of parking. The bar had a good range of drinks and the service was very good. We didn’t eat this time, but we’ll be back to do that soon. Everything went smoothly, from booking the room and the communication beforehand to the warm welcome and excellent service throughout. Very good.

There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. The food was good, but expensive for what you get. My fish had a wonderful light batter and was as good as it gets, though the portion came with very few chips. The five onion rings were crispy and nice, but ONLY FIVE, and not worth the price. Worth a visit if you’re after good food, but be prepared for the cost.

We enjoyed the food, and the staff took time to chat. From our room, we had a lovely view over the fields. My husband remembered the pub from when it was the Blue Boar, and pointed out that if you step outside the front door and look up, there he is. We’d love to come back.

The food was very tasty and the pavlova was amazing, so it was worth the wait. We had lunch with friends in lovely surroundings and were welcomed at the door. We ordered two courses and coffee, but the main took 45 minutes to arrive, even though the pub wasn’t full. The delay seemed to be with the food rather than the front of house staff. It was nice to sit and chat without being rushed, though. The hot chocolate came back as frothy milk with no chocolate, I think they forgot that part. They apologised, but only took it off the bill when we asked. I’d visit again if I wasn’t in a hurry. We booked for 1.30, arrived a little early, and left at 4pm. With starters too, it could’ve been a long day! 😂
