It’s a handy base for trips outside London, including Oxford, Cotswold and Bath. The English breakfast is very good, and fresh towels and the other necessities are provided with care. Jimmy, the manager, is friendly and does all he can to make guests comfortable and help them out. The hotel and hospitality are very nice. The family room felt a bit small for a family with three children.

Breakfast was great, with cereals, pastries, yoghurts and other choices, plus a hot meal cooked to order if you want one. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room was clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. It’s rare to find one room that fits us and our three children, so that worked especially well. A wonderful place to stay. I’d happily book again and really recommend it.

The rooms are beautifully presented, and the owners are friendly. There’s parking, and it’s on a bus route as well as just a 15-minute drive from central Reading. I only tried the continental breakfast, though the freshly cooked option looked good.

The couple running the B&B are very friendly, and it was okay value. I expected a little more from the description of an “upper class boutique B&B,” though I have no complaints about the room, service or breakfast. If you can, ask for a room looking onto the garden instead of the road. Room 1 is near the smoking area, so it’s not a good choice if you want to open the window.
