The Hayloft at Oakwood Barn

I’d choose this place before another soulless, generic hotel. When I visit Newbury next, I’ll look here first.

The hosts were very accommodating, and everything was laid out really well with plenty of space. It was very clean, with noticeable attention to detail, good facilities, ultra-clean sheets and a comfortable bed. No one could be disappointed with this accommodation, whether staying for one night or a week. Highly recommend. I’ll be back, thank you to the hosts.

We enjoyed our two nights at the Hayloft, in a quiet, very nice area just 3 miles from Newbury Town. The loft room and bathroom were lovely, spacious, very clean, warm and cozy. The bed was very comfortable with lovely fresh linen, and there was a great-size shower as well as a freestanding bath. The fridge had a loaf of bread, a jug of milk, orange juice, crumpets, yogurts and jams. There was also a good selection of breakfast cereals, including muesli and Weetabix, plus breakfast bars and plenty of tea and coffee. Sugar cubes were very limited, though, and my partner is the only one of us who takes one sugar in his drinks. The slight downside was the lack of a full-length mirror near a power point, which I needed to dry and style my hair and get ready for a special occasion we were attending. A cheval mirror and two lap trays for eating meals would have sufficed.

Really lovely place to stay. I'd happily recommend it.
