The gym and pool were clean and modern looking, and I really loved using them. My hotel booking included the gym pass, wristband and a pool towel, which I appreciated since these things usually cost extra. I had a great Friday evening there. The facilities looked better than the one near me. It's easy to find and close to Reading main train station. The hotel has a new feel from reception onwards. The rooms were clean, modern, comfortable and a good temperature, with everything I needed and a great shower and bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful at check in and check out. I'd happily stay again, as long as my company is paying!

I'd happily come back for the gym, but I'd wait for the restaurant to improve before trying it again. The staff could be more attentive and would benefit from further training, though I understand the restaurant has only recently opened and has potential. My friend brought us to The Village to see the gym facilities, and that part was a really positive experience. Reception staff were welcoming, and the gym was clean, well maintained and enjoyable to use. Afterward we ate at the restaurant. The menu had variety, but no halal options, so one of us had to pick a vegetarian dish. It took a while for anyone to come over, so we ordered drinks and all our food together. There was confusion over opening a tab. We were first asked to pay upfront for “guarantee” purposes, which felt uncomfortable, but a more senior staff member explained things and resolved it. The starters were okay, though the nachos had far too much cheese and the calamari seemed overpriced for the portion. Mains were average and took nearly an hour despite the restaurant not being very busy. Desserts were disappointing and didn't seem freshly made. Even with a £50 voucher, we paid over £70 extra, and the food didn't feel like good value.

The facilities were incredible for the price. I used the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, pool, showers and gym, and all were exceptionally clean. The gym was really well equipped. Honestly, I'd go there just for the gym. I hadn't really known about Village before, but next time I travel somewhere with a Village Hotel, I'll choose it. It's great not having to compromise on my workout routine when I stay away. The food was good too: a burger for dinner and a full English from the breakfast buffet, both good quality.

Tamara, the manager at this Starbucks branch, is so attentive and friendly, and always greets people with a genuine smile. You can tell she cares about the customers and the team. The service is warm, quick and professional every time. That kind of positive energy and dedication really makes the place stand out. Highly recommend it!

It was buzzing throughout my stay, and the staff were genuinely courteous and happy to help. Shankar in the restaurant, Tamara at Starbucks and Charlie in the gym were all great, as was the team at check in. That's what makes a hotel feel welcoming. I'd come back even just to work on my laptop. Thanks 😊
