We booked a Premier Plus room, number 216, and the air conditioning didn’t work at all. The windows were sealed shut, so the room became unbearably hot and stuffy, and we barely slept. My husband called reception and was told their panel had the air con set to 22°C, so even though our room thermostat was at 19°C it couldn’t cool below 22. The receptionist lowered the setting for us, but it made no difference. We had another night booked, but by morning I was ready to leave if they couldn’t move us. Reception found us another room, though it wasn’t a Premier Plus room like the one we’d paid for. We agreed on the condition that its air con worked. Room 234 did have working air con, and it looked like a newer system. Its thermostat showed the room temperature, unlike the one in the Plus room. The standard room was already cooler when we went in, even though it was still 24°C. I can only imagine how hot the first room got. It felt like we were being boiled alive. The receptionist gave us a complimentary breakfast the next morning, which was good given that we’d lost the Plus room. The hotel was otherwise clean and good, and the staff were friendly. But with sealed windows, the air conditioning needs to work properly. Surely there are policies about room temperatures. Even prisoners are legally allowed fresh air through an open window. Something needs to change with the air con, or guests should be able to open a window.

I forgot to leave this after checking out on 29/3/26. The room was clean, the bathroom was nice, and the staff were friendly. I’d bring the Premier Plus next time for the mini fridge and better Wi-Fi. The one frustrating thing was that we couldn’t get the air conditioning going, so we had to keep heading outside for fresh air. Otherwise, 4 out of 5 from me.

The room was comfortable, clean, and just right for my stay. The team at the Premier Inn in Redditch gave me really professional service and went out of their way to make my two nights welcoming and enjoyable.

The Premier Plus room was excellent, and the staff made us feel welcome. Even beside a major road junction, it was very quiet and we slept well. It’s also handy for Forge Mill Needle Museum and Bordesley Abbey. The place itself isn’t beautiful.

The Premier Inn and the Beefeater next door were both great. The problem was getting into the complex in the rain. The subway was flooded, leaving us to walk along and across a major road and roundabout with no pavements. It was hazardous. The council that decided pedestrians don’t matter should have to walk that route themselves. I can’t give Premier Inn five stars, but the council is why.
