The staff were helpful whenever we needed them, and the location near the train station is why we'd stayed here before. This time, though, the hotel had gone downhill. We booked early check-in and the room was ready, but it smelled of dogs and clearly allowed pets. It looked tired and wasn't very clean, with just one pillow per bed. When we asked for more, we were told none were available, despite the room description promising four pillows. The shower pressure and temperature kept changing, and the entrance stairwell was dirty and needed vacuuming. We had breakfast at the Toby Inn next door. The listing mentioned new room decor, but I'm not sure those rooms exist here. We put up with it for one night, but Travel Lodge needs to spend some money sorting the place out. It's in a good location.

The receptionist did her best and was very helpful, so thank you to her, though I didn't catch her name. The rest of the stay was awful. Water leaked from the toilet extractor fan in our first room and pooled on the floor, where my wife slipped and fell during the night. We were told the replacement room was clean, but a robotic vacuum was stranded in the middle of the floor with no charge, apparently before it had finished cleaning. The TV remote had no batteries, either stolen or never replaced. The hotel is said to have been refurbished recently, yet already feels old and battered. Breakfast at the Toby Carvery wasn't good, and tea and coffee cost extra. I wouldn't recommend it, only stay in a real emergency.

The shower kept cutting in and out, and there was a faint septic smell in my room that never went away. This was my least satisfactory Travelodge stay so far. I'd only come back if I urgently needed somewhere to sleep in Redhill and it cost less than £40.

Muhammad gave us such a warm welcome. We were offered a choice of rooms when we arrived, including one facing the train tracks, and my husband and I were fine with that option. The location is fab, with a Toby Carvery next door, and I like that reception can validate the parking.

The room was freezing because all the windows had been left open, and the only way to warm it was a dodgy portable radiator. The carpets were filthy and hadn't been vacuumed, and there wasn't any soap. Disgraceful, avoid at all costs.
