We had two roast dinners, coffees and a good value bill of £35. The beef and the mushroom, cranberry and Brie wellington were both delicious, and the portions were generous. There are good vegetarian choices, and the menu clearly marks gluten free options. Friendly service, an open fire and a darts board too. Great spot for Sunday lunch.

The latest owners are working hard to bring The Buck back to its former glory. We went on Saturday evening so my wife could watch the Leeds Man City match. The real ale was fresh and bright, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We saw a mix of incomer families and farmers whose families have been around for 450+ years. We didn't spot any visitors, but they're welcome too. It's only a five minute walk from home. The pub's had a chequered run since its golden age about 15 years ago, when groups like the Animals performed and they held quirky quiz nights. Later owners foolishly declared a "visitors preferred policy", which led locals to boycott it, and COVID soon saw them off. There's simple pub food, and you can't reserve tables. When we left it was quite full, with a low key buzz. Outside seating overlooks the village green, and there's a large beer garden at the back for warmer months. If you want a down to earth, no nonsense place, this one's for you. There are other spots for the hooray Henerys.

We had a brilliant time at The Buck on Friday 6th March for a birthday. The chicken pie was divine, and all the food arrived pretty quickly. Everyone on staff made us feel welcome, and the atmosphere was great. We stayed for the quiz, which was fun and well supported. A special thanks to Shaun, who kindly posted back something we'd left behind. It was no bother to him, and we really appreciated the help. We'll be back!

The Buck's food has always been fantastic, and it's clean and welcoming with great staff. Their sausage sandwich is the best ever. This review includes earlier meals as well as the Christmas dinner they provided. We collected the Christmas meal pre-cooked and reheated it using their clear instructions. At 54, I've made and eaten plenty of Christmas dinners, so I worried this one wouldn't measure up. I was completely wrong. Everything was delicious, and what they called one portion was easily enough for two. It was Christmas dinner without fuss, at top restaurant quality. Both the turkey and mushroom wellington were perfect.

The service from Rhi was second to none, and the beer selection is great. Everything was well kept, especially the Pennine Brewery Heartland, which was particularly good. Cask club Sunday at 3.50 a pint was the icing on the cake. There's pub darts, pool tables and plenty of seating. Can't recommend The Buck enough, you won't regret going!
