The Anchorage Hotel

It used to be a great pub, but years without much investment have left it feeling dated. The hotel is up for sale, so it may be the end of the line for the current owners. The food wasn’t anything special for the price, and the service was just acceptable. The very young staff were polite, but seemed inexperienced and unsure about the drinks menu.

We only came for dinner, not an overnight stay. Since it was a busy Saturday night, I’d suggest booking ahead. We had our dog with us and sitting outside was no problem. The staff were all very friendly, and the food was excellent as usual, with something for everyone. Service was excellent too. Just remember everything is cooked to order, so it’s not fast food. Thanks, we’ll be back soon.

The restaurant food was excellent, and we enjoyed our night here. Our double room was clean and tidy, with a few toiletries and tea and coffee facilities. The hotel has a lovely view and a large car park. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially at reception and among the restaurant waitresses.

We spent a relaxing afternoon in the bar, though dinner was only edible and not particularly good. Our accessible room needs a few things fixed: dust on the grab rails, peeling paint on the radiator pipe, black marks on the window frame right by the entrance, and a new bathroom blind. It would be a much better room once those are sorted.
