I was here for work, arriving late and leaving early, so I didn’t have much time to enjoy the place. Still, the location, rooms and ambience are all reasons I’d come back when I can stay longer. I felt bad rushing breakfast because I needed to get to the site. The other guests’ breakfasts looked amazing, almost like a three-course menu, and the lovely staff explained everything in detail. The evening menu and atmosphere looked great too, though I didn’t try them. A lovely place, and one I’ll keep in mind for a return visit or recommendation.

The food was the standout. The freshness, variety of bold flavours and beautiful presentation are hard to put into words. It was one of the best tasting menus we’ve had, and the standard was just as high on our second visit. Chef Adam and his dedicated team made the stay memorable. The hotel is in a beautiful old building, warm and welcoming, comfortable and clean, with incredible views of Ripon Cathedral just across the road. The staff are friendly and helpful, making you feel at home right away. Their service manages to be both professional and relaxed.

Our vegetarian nine-course tasting menu was fabulous. Every plate was a feast for the senses, and the friendly, knowledgeable staff described each course so well. It was a treat to meet Adam, the head chef, and chat about some of the ingredients. The bedroom was a little disappointing because the shower didn’t work well at all. Luckily, the bed and pillows were really comfortable. That didn’t take away our enthusiasm for The Old Deanery, and we’ll definitely be back. It’s a fantastic hidden gem.

The people here are lovely, and breakfast was amazing, with the same creative, high standards as the chef and kitchen team. The rooms and surroundings are very comfortable. It’s a quirky hotel with plenty of individual character, which makes it all the better. A lovely stay.

Breakfast was amazing, mixing continental and traditional styles. The hotel has loads of character and wonderful views of the Cathederal, with plenty of Resturants nearby if you’d rather eat out. I stayed recently while working in the area and will come back next time. The staff were fantastic, welcoming and attentive. Five stars, and thanks for a great experience.
