We spent three nights at this quirky, lovely hotel and will return. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to help. Breakfast had a very wide choice and was excellent. We ate there three times: the first two meals were excellent, while the Sunday lunch was a little affected by what I think was probably their busiest Sunday lunchtime ever. My wife had the Gluten Free Veggie Pie and said it was excellent, packed with different flavours. It's a wonderful dog-friendly hotel, whether you're coming for a meal or a stay of any length. There's so much to do in the area, and we love the place and its staff.

We had lunch here just before Christmas with my son and his wife. The menu was varied, with good vegetarian and GF options, and the food was tasty and plentiful. Service was quick, and the staff were friendly and efficient. There's more than adequate parking, and the old-style bar has real fires and quirky details. One thing to know: the menu says the vegetables are served 'al dente'. They were 'molto al dente', so mention it when ordering if you'd rather have them with less bite.

Our room was magnificent, with a splendid view and welcome quiet. The Old Court Hotel is in beautiful surroundings and dates from 1570AD. It's easily the best hotel we've stayed in over the past decade. Service was professional, friendly and attentive. Marta, our waitress last evening, was a shining example: she handled every request with a genuine smile and nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding, and she was the star of our meal. The chef and kitchen staff deserve credit too. I asked Marta for sliced onion with my burger and got sliced red onion. It may sound trivial, but other hotels and restaurants have repeatedly refused that request. One even said the kitchen had no spare onion. I say this as a former caterer and retailer who has experienced catering since retirement, including at Harrods and Partridges of Sloane Street, and later self-employed. A small mystery from our visit: sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, cream or custard seemed to disappear suspiciously. Something fishy was afoot that evening, and we're determined to resolve it next time. If you want the best hospitality in lovely surroundings, The Old Court Hotel is the place to go.

I've been eating here for years and it's never let me down. The food is hearty, home-cooked and full of superb flavour, with fresh ingredients every time. The welcome is wonderful and the staff are great. It's also in a fantastic spot, perfect to pair with a walk in one of the most scenic areas around. Thank you!

We've eaten here several times over the past year, at lunch and in the evenings, and haven't been disappointed. I know some reviews are negative, which surprises me: every visit we've had excellent, friendly service. Last week we sat in the conservatory on a rare sunny day, and the atmosphere was lovely. All three meals were nicely cooked and presented. My beef bourgingon was delicious, though bread alongside potatoes was more than I needed. Everyone enjoyed all their courses. As Diamond members, we found the value great. We'll keep coming back for good food in beautiful historic surroundings.
