Hotel The Fairways

We didn't stay overnight, so I can't comment on the rooms. We stopped in for a couple of hours after shopping for a suit for my son's upcoming wedding. I don't drink alcohol for medical reasons, and my Diet Coke came in a traditional glass bottle rather than on tap. I had fish and chips with minted mushy peas. The food was hot, well cooked and nicely presented, tasted great, and arrived within what seemed a very reasonable time. No complaints.

A friendly pub that's great for families, with lovely staff. Lily was a big help and couldn't have done more for us.

The Sunday lunch was good value at two for £10, with fresh, not frozen, vegetables and a choice of beef, pork or turkey. The lager was reasonably priced too, though not as cheap as the evening price. I'll definitely go again.

We stayed one night after an event. A young woman welcomed us and handed over the room key, and the room itself was spacious, clean and had what we needed. But the lighting was awful, very dark with only a few spotlights. We barely slept because the walls were paper thin. The people next door were drunk and noisy until 2am, and we could hear everything. Doors kept slamming too. After the pub shuts at 11, there's no receptionist or staff member on site to contact about antisocial guests, so you're left to put up with it. We were also woken by a strong smell of weed. The owner isn't responsible for guests' behaviour, but someone should be on call to deal with trouble and help everyone get the good night's sleep they paid for. I can say for sure I won't stay here again. Pay a bit more and stay in a decent hotel.
