The snug was a lovely place to settle in with a drink or snack from the honesty bar. You simply noted your name, room number and what you took, and it was added to the bill at checkout. The local pub was closed during our visit, so that worked out nicely. We also walked the 1.5 miles into Whitby. The quicker route has some steps and steep banks, while the train-track way takes about 10 minutes longer and is flatter. Our first-floor room had a lovely garden view through an old single-pane window, but it was still cosy and warm. It was clean and came with a kettle, tea and coffee. The building dates to 1603 and has plenty of character. Joanne and John were pleasant, helpful hosts, and Joanne was always happy to answer my questions about the Hall. Breakfast was help-yourself continental, with cereal, toast, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, pastries and more. Joanne kept the tea and coffee fresh and offered refills. We’ll definitely stay again.

The hosts gave us some lovely suggestions for restaurants and walks nearby, and their freshly cooked breakfast was delicious. My partner and I visited in March and had a lovely stay. Our room was beautiful, and the hosts were so welcoming and friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

We booked Ruswarp Hall at the last minute for a weekend away, and it became the highlight of our trip. The room had a real wow factor, especially the freestanding bathtub. Its historic features paired with modern luxury were more than I’d imagined. There are lovely garden views, fireplaces and tartan wallpaper in the traditional shared rooms. The whole place felt cosy, welcoming and homey. The building is beautiful, the rooms are stunning, and the setting is peaceful with a friendly atmosphere. For character and soul near Whitby, this is the place. We had a fantastic time and will be back.

The staff member we met was lovely. She showed us to our room and explained everything rather than just pointing out where it was. Our room was simple and clean, with a shower. I’m not sure whether other rooms have baths. The snug bar is very snug indeed, while the breakfast room is spacious and well equipped. It’s a charming old house, and I’d gladly stay again.

We came for a surprise night away to see whitby. The building is beautiful, and our room was clean and had everything we needed. The double shower was a lovely extra. Breakfast was continental, nicely laid out, and the dining area was spotless. The hosts were friendly and happy to chat. We’ll definitely come back, hopefully soon.
