The basics were there, including tea and coffee, hot water, a small bar of soap and basic shampoo. The room was made up each day during our three-night stay, but we weren’t given clean towels. Room 4 was the shabbiest room I’ve ever stayed in. Nearly everything, from the fixtures to the surfaces, was scratched, dented or damaged. There was black mould from condensation on the window frame, and the caulking behind the toilet had split. It may have seemed trendy when the place first opened, but this room clearly hasn’t been updated since. It’s not five-star accommodation by any stretch. My wife suggested taking photos, but I’d have needed 100GB of cloud storage to upload them, and had better things to do.

We’d happily stay again. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and the linen and furnishings felt high quality. The hosts were helpful too. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. Five stars!

Our room was lovely, and the two people running the place were very nice. Still, it gave us the impression of a trial run in how to operate a hotel with only two people. Also, despite what the website said, our group couldn’t eat there on Tuesday.

We ate at Manorhaus on our second night, and both the food and service were the best. Our room was spacious, stylish, clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a lovely old building, just a minute’s walk from the centre of Ruthin, a pretty town with some fantastic architecture. We had a lovely weekend and hope to return soon. Dominic
