Llety Cynin

We paid £660 two days before arriving for five days, but after two days we decided to leave. The atmosphere had become unbearable and frankly disgusting, especially the way the staff handled me questioning their service. In my view, they seemed more concerned about money than customer satisfaction and had no idea how to provide customer service. They charged me £72 for a Swedish massage I hadn’t asked for. The therapist rubbed oil over my body, and that was it. I’d made clear at reception that I wanted deep tissue, but apparently that therapist doesn’t do it. Please avoid this place. Don’t waste your money.

The owners put so much effort into making each stay personal and welcoming, with lovely attention to detail. The rooms have Welsh blankets and accessories, Welsh tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and Welsh cakes. Breakfasts are amazing and dinner is really good too. They even have my favourite cider, so it’s a winner all round. I’ve stayed four times in the past year and loved every visit. I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough and can’t wait to come back soon.

The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had, made with really high quality ingredients. The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. Service has an old school feel, which I see as a real plus. The staff are friendly, and the beer and food are excellent. Can’t fault it.

Llety Cynin is my favourite place for some time to myself, though the kids love the family swim sessions too, especially when we follow them with cake. It’s a lovely calm space, and Elizabeth and the team always give us a warm welcome. I often start my day with a swim, then bring my laptop to the Penny Bar for a strong coffee or a working breakfast. The gym is clean, modern, well equipped and never too busy. There’s a Welsh phrase, 'Lle i enaid gael llonydd', meaning roughly 'a place for the soul to find peace', and it fits perfectly. I hope to come more often in spring for Sunday lunch and a play in the park.
