The New Inn

The mushroom risotto was especially memorable, and the rest of the food was first class. We had a generous, warm welcome and great service, and they made our four-year-old feel very welcome too. We stopped in for lunch and will be back.

The setting is attractive both indoors and out, and the location is good, with plenty of parking. I’ve had lunch here several times since 2022, and the service has been excellent every time. They use quality ingredients, present them imaginatively, and offer very good value.

We came on a whim for lunch, even though it’s quite a drive from home, and had a really great meal. The food was excellent, with the kind of proper cooking you don’t always find in places calling themselves gastro pubs. We’ll return for Christmas lunch.

The food was divine, from breakfast to dinner. We were so full after each meal we could hardly move, and while it isn’t the cheapest, you get more than your money’s worth. The staff and service are what really set The New Inn apart. Everyone greeted us when we came into the bar, and they were friendly, knowledgeable, and treated us extremely well. On our second night, they’d arranged a table with a card and a small box of chocolates for our wedding anniversary. Such a lovely, unexpected touch. We chose the spacious, comfortable, well-appointed Hare room because The New Inn is close to Oldfield Forge, where my husband and I were celebrating our fifth anniversary with some forging. The room is above the bar, and the music goes on late, but earplugs are provided if you need them. After a full day hammering away at a piece of metal, the bath was an absolute godsend. Highly, highly recommended.
