AC Hotel by Marriott, Manchester Salford Quays

The beds were too soft for me, and rooms at the front get a lot of traffic noise. I'd ask for a room at the back next time. The staff and location were excellent, and the other facilities were great, so I would stay again. There's free Wi-Fi, parking on site for £14 a night, and the restaurant serves good food at standard hotel prices.

The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and cleaned when requested. The location is great, close to the city centre and most amenities. Reception staff were friendly and professional, but the customer service and facilities fell short of what I'd expect from a four-star hotel. There was no evening room service or menu, no help with our luggage, and they wouldn't bring ice to the room when asked. The £25-a-night cat fee felt expensive. The car park is £14 a night, spaces aren't guaranteed, and they also took a refundable £75 deposit for our three-night stay, which seemed high. The Hilton, where I stayed in August, didn't take an extra deposit and had far better service than AC. Marriott. In general I was disappointed by the lack of service and the cat fee.

Getting around is so convenient here. There's a convenience store just left of the hotel, Tesco on the right, and Starbucks and McDonald's across the road. The room was a comfortable size, not too big or too small. If you're on a group tour, the coach can drop off and pick up right beside or behind the hotel. Highly recommended!

I slept really well. The beds were very comfortable, and there wasn't any noise to disturb me. Even over Christmas there were plenty of parking spaces. The rooms are modern in style, clean, and tidy, and the staff were lovely at check-in and check-out. Breakfast had few veggie choices, though there was enough for me. I'd rate it 6/10.
