The room and location were great, and we had a good time in the pool, hot tub, spa room, and gym. Those were the positives. The bed was much smaller than I expected for a hotel at this price, and rock hard. Blackout curtains didn’t block out the rest of the room. The coffee maker was annoying, there were no complimentary items, and although lots of TV channels were advertised, most showed nothing. That felt misleading. The staff were rude much of the time. We found a used plaster stuck to one of our towels, which is a health risk, and when we reported it we got blank stares. I shouldn’t have had to ask for a fresh towel. We were also told at arrival that breakfast was included, then the breakfast staff spoke down to us and told us it wasn’t included and to leave. I’m not usually one to complain about service, but this felt different. There were plenty of things we enjoyed, so I didn’t dislike the whole place, but the downsides disappointed me. If the price is no problem and you like the look of it, it may suit you. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who can get a room but probably shouldn’t be paying this much.

The Embankment Kitchen was the highlight of my stay. I really enjoyed the meal and would recommend eating there. The staff were polite and helpful, and the hotel looks modern with all the amenities you’d expect. Still, the basics weren’t right for me. The room had a rock-hard mattress and all the pillows were the same flat, solid type. I expected a couple of choices. The corner sofa was more comfortable. The windows didn’t keep out the noise from trains passing every five minutes, and there was only a quiet gap from about 2am to 4am. I didn’t sleep the whole night. I also couldn’t relax in the jacuzzi because only one jet worked, and I couldn’t find a locker with a working lock, so my belongings didn’t feel safe. I wasn’t told whether breakfast came with the room or where to get it. The website suggests cooked breakfast costs £25, with no free continental option like other hotels offer as standard. The parking details need to be clearer too. All it says is “self park,” which means little, and only after checking other sites did it become clear to use local car parks. The location is good for public transport, but the train noise was a major downside. I wouldn’t stay again.

We went for the location near the AO Arena, and that part was great. Breakfast was chaotic, so book ahead, as nobody told us when we booked. The food was okay but barely warm, though the breakfast staff were friendly. The place is modern and clean, but I didn’t sleep at all. The bed and flat pillows were rock hard, and street noise came right through. For £280 a night in Manchester, I expected better. With check-in at 4pm and checkout at 11am, you only get a 17-hour stay, so check-in should be earlier at that price. I won’t stay here again.

I was attacked by three men staying at the hotel, right by the entrance, at around 4:45am on 31 January. I’d been a regular guest at CitySuites II, but after staying 29-31 January 2026, I won’t return. I defended myself until security intervened verbally. One of the men was later let back inside and kept threatening me in the lobby. Staff didn’t remove him after the incident. I called GMP as advised. Police arrived more than seven hours later, around noon, giving the men time to leave. They reviewed CCTV from the hotel and Sainsbury’s Local and took my statement, but said they couldn’t identify the men. The room was booked under a woman’s name, though no woman was present, and the hotel let three men in without checks. They appeared intoxicated or impaired. This put guests at serious risk. The hotel wouldn’t release CCTV to me as the victim, citing GDPR and third-party privacy, although blurring faces is standard and feasible. GMP, PC Theo Jarrald 02017, Pendleton, closed the case quickly, reference CRI/06FF/00002495/26, saying the CCTV was “no longer needed” and not pursuing the suspects. The hotel has a duty of care under the Occupiers’ Liability Act 1957. Its lax ID checks, failure to evict disruptive, intoxicated guests, and allowing someone back in after an assault outside the doors fell far short. If they’d been armed, it could have ended tragically. I’m extremely disappointed in the hotel’s security and response, and in GMP’s handling. Think carefully before booking, check recent reviews, and ask about guest verification and incident procedures. Stay safe.

I stayed one night for a visa appointment at BLS Spain, and the location was ideal: less than a 10-minute walk to BLS and 25 minutes on foot to Manchester Piccadilly Station. There’s also a Sainsbury’s just a stone’s throw away if you need anything. The studio was spacious and clean, with a bathroom, kitchen, living area, and comfortable double bed. The kitchen had what you’d need for a longer stay, and the air conditioning was a nice touch. The bathroom was large and had a heated towel rail. Shampoo and shower gel were provided. The shower was okay, but the drain was slow and could use a clean. The building is modern and smelled lovely in the reception and lounge. The receptionist was friendly and accommodating when I asked for help, and the lift was fast. Breakfast was included and served in a nearby building. It wasn’t a buffet: you order at the table, and they bring it over. There were plenty of choices, including a main dish like pancakes or eggs on toast, continental items such as pastries, yogurt, and fruit, plus unlimited tea, coffee, and juice. The food was alright and worth the price. I’d read complaints about breakfast being in a separate building, but I didn’t mind the short walk, probably about 50 steps. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
