The apartment was filthy, and the sheets had blood stains. We asked for fresh ones and were given another set with blood on them. The listing said there was a lift, but it was broken, so we had to carry all our things up several flights of stairs without any help. We booked through Airbnb, then were asked for a £200 deposit on arrival. That wasn't mentioned in the listing, and they wouldn't request it through Airbnb, so there was no protection.

The 24-hour shop next door was handy, and it was about a 20-minute walk to the centre. We parked across the road, where parking was free after 6 and limited to three hours, so that worked out fine. We stayed for Valentine’s and hadn’t read the reviews beforehand, so I was a bit apprehensive. It wasn’t nearly as bad as people were saying. Check-in was easy and the room was clean and tidy. The place felt more like temporary living than a hotel, which made the £100 deposit make sense. I hadn’t known about the deposit, but it was only held by the bank and was back in my account within three days. All in all, not a bad place.

Avoid this place. I’d booked a Valentine’s night well in advance, paying nearly 200 pounds for the room, then got a call a few days before saying there was another 200 pound deposit. Nobody had mentioned that when I booked. I said I couldn’t find another 200 for a deposit and wanted to cancel. The woman told me I’d be charged for cancelling. It messed up Valentine’s for me and my girlfriend. I’ll never use this place again. Please avoid it unless you want to be robbed blind.

The location was convenient, less than 10 minutes off the motorway and close to the city centre, which is lovely in the evening and has great food. The room looked like the pictures and was clean, but the quality was very poor. For the price, which is quite expensive, there are many alternatives, like AC Hotel. Parking was a mess. I got an email seven days before our stay saying I could book a space. I replied that same day and heard nothing back. At check-in I asked for parking and was happy to pay, but was told it was full. They ignored me when I explained that I’d replied straight away. Check-in itself was simple, and we were told our floor and room. Both mattresses were horrendous, sinking right down so we could clearly feel the broken bed bases or springs. There was nobody at the front desk, so I told security, who ignored the issue. Reception ignored it again the next morning. The neighbours started playing music at 10pm. I didn’t mind at first and hoped it would stop soon, but it went on loudly until 6 or 7am. Security didn’t care. There was also a lot of road noise. The windows wouldn’t close in one room, so I moved to the second bedroom. Its mattress was just as bad, but at least that window closed and I could try to rest.

An hour before checkout, all the electricity went out in our apartment, so I had to shower and get ready in the dark. When I mentioned it to reception, they just said, “it happens a lot”. They also ignore calls and emails, so there’s no point trying to reach them. We’ll be contacting the authorities to take this further. They charged us £15 per night for parking, but the shutter was “broken”, so we had to use another building farther away. It took over an hour to sort out parking and check us in. The place was dirty, there were holes in the corridors, the car park was a state, and it looked nothing like the website photos. Staff were rude and unhelpful. They wanted a £100 deposit for a room that already had things wrong with it. Staff then claimed there had been noise complaints from our room and called or texted us from random numbers, in an unprofessional, unpleasant and threatening tone. They said things like, “The slightest voice we hear and you’ll be evicted immediately”. Reading other reviews, I assume they do this a lot to try to keep deposits. Mine still hasn’t been returned. The whole experience felt like a scam. Please don’t stay here. This place should be shut down immediately. It’s the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
