Duet - Campus Accommodation

The reception staff are amazing, always helpful and polite. The garden is also a great feature, especially if you work remotely and have dogs. It’s a nice space in a busy area like media city. But it was shut for nearly three months after a door issue when I moved in, and it’s recently closed again after a few light showers, with no word on when it’ll reopen. That’s frustrating when rent for a one-bed flat is over £1100. I’ve been renting in Duet for over a year, and most of the experience has been great. The building had only two of its three lifts working when I moved in on January, and after more than a year that’s still the case. During maintenance, a building this size is left relying on one working lift for all the apartments. I’d advise getting a lower flow apartment, since it seems this won’t be fixed unless you sign a 46 month Tenancy, and even then you might see the third lift work during your time at Duet. Management puts a lot of effort into events like Friday socials and group workshops, but very little into maintaining the building itself. It’s been over a year and they still can’t order a lift part? Three months to fix a door? They announced four separate dates for cleaning all the windows, but even that hasn’t happened because of an error. The building could be 10/10 under new management.

Reception is excellent, and that’s the only reason DUET gets a star from me. The rest has let the place down. One elevator has been out for several months, and despite management notifications saying the building windows would be cleaned, they still haven’t been. The management team in the building can be arrogant and unhelpful. Smoking still happens on our floor despite complaints, with no apparent response. The coffee machine works some days, not others, and sometimes not at all. Since JLL took over, everything has changed, or rather, deteriorated. Please sort this out, or I’ll report it to the ombudsman.

The gym is on site, and there’s a great coffee machine near reception. Having a good cup before work has become a tradition for me. Most of all, the staff are lovely and accommodating. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy, and I felt at home from day one. Every request was handled smoothly, with a personal touch. Best flat I’ve ever lived in. Thanks, Duet team 😊
