The beds were really comfortable, and breakfast was included with lots to choose from. The room was good too, though a plug socket in the bathroom would be handy. There was a hairdryer provided. Thanks to Sam at the front desk for such a warm welcome. I'd definitely stay again.

The staff were lovely and helpful, and breakfast was better than at most HI Expresses. The room was clean and typical for HI, and the location makes it easy to get to the metro. Our luck with the room was the opposite: we were on the first floor above the entrance, facing the car park instead of the water. We could hear everyone coming and going, plus deliveries at 6.50am. It's a hotel with two very different sides, depending on your view.

We only ended up here for one night of our weekend trip after being chucked out of the Premier Inn next door because of unexplained renovations. Honestly, we wish we'd booked this place for the whole trip. The room, staff and amenities were 100 times better than at Premier Inn. Lenny Henry would be turning in his grave if he was actually deed, man. It's a very decent stay for the price if you're in town.

The only real annoyance was the lift. Kids were running around and stopping people from using it, then playing knock and run through the night. Staff didn't say anything, even though they weren't directly responsible for the children. Otherwise, the hotel was great. It was well located, the rooms were clean and had everything I could want, including an iron, TV, kettle, and tea and coffee. Breakfast had basic cooked items, pastries and cereal. Evening food choices were limited, but there are plenty of alternatives in the city, including pubs, restaurants and McDonalds nearby.
