Novotel Manchester West

Jo and Vaz have made such a difference to my stays that I wanted them to know how much I appreciate them. Jo is mainly in the food and bar area, while Vaz works at reception. They’ve both been just bloody exemplary, and I’ll miss them. Plenty of other staff have been gradely too, but these two have stood out head and shoulders above the rest. I’ve been a guest here most weeks for over six months, and it’s been superb. The hotel is clean and modern, with spotless, comfortable rooms that handle a lot of traffic. They’re spacious for a solo traveller or couple. I can’t speak to the family rooms as I don’t have kids. It’s quiet despite being just off J12 M60, with no motorway noise disturbing sleep. The hotel is a bit away from the football areas, if that’s what you’re after, but Worsley has great restaurants at better prices than the city centre. It’s just outside this lovely little town, which deserves a look around, and there are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby. I’ve eaten at the hotel twice and both meals were good, though there are better local places. The menu is limited but acceptable, and the breakfasts are very good. It’s a three star hotel with great staff that punches above its weight. For the money, don’t look elsewhere. I’ll miss it as I’m stopping further south.

We were grateful they could fit us in during such a busy time of year. It was a difficult day, but the hotel helped us have a lovely family gathering to remember my dad. The restaurant area felt warm and welcoming, and there was plenty of space with good wheelchair access, which our mum needed. The food was delicious and plentiful, with a mix of hot and cold buffet. The younger ones enjoyed the pool table in reception, and the hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. When we first got in touch about holding my dad’s wake here in December, Janki (apologies if misspelt) was very friendly and approachable, taking time to share lots of helpful information. All the staff were professional and kind. Thank you.

There were several issues during our stay, though nothing horrific, and they all seem fixable. The car chargers weren’t working, which caused a queue in the morning and meant we had to find another option. Check-in also fell below what I expect from the Accor group. The room wasn’t as nice as the reviews suggested, the bath plug didn’t work, and the thin walls made it exceptionally noisy. The hotel looks like it could be nice when things go well, but unfortunately that wasn’t our experience this time. Wishing you all the best.

The breakfast buffet is great, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are always friendly. Some areas seem to have had recent updates, with the TV and bathroom looking relatively new, though it’s an older hotel. I’ve stayed many times and it remains my favourite place to stay in Manchester, even if it’s a little out of the way. Nothing to complain about.
