The staff seemed stretched, rushing around and trying to handle too many guests. They need more hours and extra staff. The food and bar were adequate and filling, if nothing special, but it was always warm and cooked. The property itself is a bit dated, though well maintained. There’s no lift for my disabled partner. With only two floors it wasn’t the end of the world, but it was an issue. The Facebook photos also gave a somewhat misleading impression of the location.

The room was as good as expected, but breakfast was very poor and definitely not worth paying extra for. We waited at the entrance for someone to greet us, then gave up and picked a table ourselves. There was barely any food ready, and the chef seemed very confused, though I can only assume it was their first day. The toaster didn’t work, the continental choices were limited, and the food quality wasn’t good. The mushrooms were okay. We had to clear our own tables because the staff couldn’t be bothered.

The only real problem was the extractor fan, which couldn’t be switched off. It was okay as background noise, but once the TV was off and the room quiet, it stood out. My room had one of the decorated receipts, and it was spacious, comfortable and very nice. Breakfast looked good and was served buffet-style, and it tasted great too.

The room and bathroom were spotless, and the bed was so comfortable I had a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It far exceeded my expectations.

Everyone on staff was lovely and helpful, and I slept well in a quiet room. Breakfast had a good range of food, and dinner was available on site too. I didn’t try dinner, since Salisbury is only a short drive away and we ate there instead. I didn’t see a lift, so carrying the cases upstairs was a workout. And Salisbury’s well worth a wander around.
