Our family group of eight had a great time here last week for a Christmas get-together. The dining room is spectacular, with a table that seated all of us easily, and the Victorian architecture is beautiful. The rooms are generously sized and worked really well for our group. Upstairs, our bedroom was at the top of the stairs beside a fabulous library, and it had crisp, clean bedding. The kitchen was well equipped, with a large fridge and freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Both the beach and town are about a two-minute walk away. We loved it!

The apartment itself was spacious for two people and a small terrier, nicely furnished and comfortable. The shower over the bath was one of the best I’ve had. The entrance to Emerald Hideaway did not disappoint, and it was up to the usual high standard of Host and Stay apartments. Getting there was a bit of a shock, though: the shared front entrance was scruffy, with old post on the floor and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. We’ve been to Saltburn a number of times, and it’s a brilliant place to stay. The pier and beach are down below, and the town centre is easy to reach from the apartment. The bars and restaurants are good too. For pizza, No. 23 is a must; for seafood, try Seaview by the pier. It’s outstanding. I’d definitely recommend the apartment, and Host and Stay as well.

The bed was really uncomfortable, and there was no grab rail in the bath. Those were the only couple of issues.
