The wind is always a factor on this coastal course, and the rough can be punishing. The layout and distances make for a tricky round, though there are holes where you can go for a good score. We played 18 on Friday at midday. Helpful staff explained how the course winds across the grounds before sending us off at the first. The views are great from the start and get even better as you climb for the back nine.

We had a thoroughly pleasant day playing the Jubilee course for the Ladies open. There are 27 holes available, and being beside the sea means lovely views all around. The ladies were very welcoming and had gone all out to make our game fabulous, even when the golf itself wasn't always going well. I’ve taken off a star because, like at many clubs, a few more signs would help with finding the next tee, the par and the yardage. The tees formerly known as the men's tees often have information plaques, but the other tees don't.

We only stayed one night, but had a great time at the bar. The food and drinks were good, and the bar staff were friendly and quick.

The shop guy did a great job explaining that there’s an 18-hole course and a 9-hole one. It was well worth the trip: a cracking layout, with risk and reward on most holes and great views. Just watch out for the rough, it really tests you.
