The grounds are lovely and well kept, and the hotel feels like a hidden gem. At reception, friendly, smiling staff welcomed me, explained the amenities clearly and made it obvious they wanted my stay to suit me. Everyone was lovely, happy to chat or offer advice about the area. Drinks were served with flair, and meals arrived as requested and on time, with no pressure to leave the table. There was enough variety on the set dinner menu for different tastes. Try the beef bonbon starter, it was delicious. Breakfast was a delight, with both a traditional option and things like smoked salmon. I didn’t get time for afternoon tea, though it looked lovely, but I did try the chefs’ shortbread biscuits and they were fabulous. My room was beautifully clean, and I do check everywhere, so kudos to the room attendants and housekeeping. It was a very pleasurable couple of days, and I’ve already booked again.

The setting is stunning, surrounded by peaceful countryside, and the long drive up to Grinkle Park Hotel makes arriving feel like a real escape. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive from the moment we got there. We ate very well throughout our stay, with food that was beautifully cooked, full of flavour and clearly made with care. A wonderful hotel with great service and an unbeatable location. We’ll definitely be back.

I’ve stayed here several times, most recently for a birthday celebration, and every visit has been enjoyable and relaxing. The food is very good and the location is great, but the staff are the standout: consistently brilliant, without being intrusive or obsequious in any way. Special thanks to the two women serving breakfast on Monday morning. The service was outstanding, and the coffee and toast just kept coming. We’ll certainly be back.

The room made a lovely base for our stay. We had the Ingleby room, which was huge, with a very comfortable bed, wardrobe, table, sofa, ensuite and lovely views over the garden and lake. Breakfast the next morning had fruit, pastries, cereals, yoghurts and different juices, followed by a full Yorkshire breakfast that tasted great. Dinner was a real treat too: smoked salmon to start, chicken for me and sirloin steak for my partner, then sticky toffee pudding and vanilla pana cotta. We finished with drinks at the bar, and I’d definitely recommend the Cherry Gin and Fizz cocktail. When we arrived, there were cakes and tea or coffee, plus a still-warm slice of Parkin that was the best I’ve ever tasted. The staff were so welcoming and happy to help with anything. We spent one night at Grinkle Park Hotel in January, with lots of snow turning the tree-lined drive and countryside into a winter wonderland. We only wish we’d stayed longer, and we’ll be back.

We stayed in the Commondale Room for one night, and it was gorgeous: loads of space, comfy beds, a big bathroom, lovely window drapes and broad views across the lawns. Dinner and breakfast were both really nice. The staff made the break especially good. Both Vicky's, Paul, Adam, Kevin and especially Charlie went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It was just the break we needed, and we had a super time. Thank you all, we’ll be back!
