Abbie made us feel so at home, and she's one of the kindest, soundest people I've met. The name Friends really fits, because you leave feeling you've made friends. Breakfast was delicious, cooked perfectly, and they kindly catered for dietary restrictions. Our clean, cosy room had everything we needed, with far-reaching views of the downs and a glimpse of the sea. The hotel is handy for bus routes and just two minutes from the train station. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to the high street, beach and local amenities. Sandown works really well as a base, with easy transport to attractions and plenty within walking distance. We'll be back for things like the great value SUP hire on the local beach.

Abbie is one of the loveliest people you could meet. She'll go out of her way to make sure you're comfortable and enjoying your stay, and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is well placed for walking into Sandown or down to the beach, and the views are lovely. I've stayed a couple of times now, and the rooms have been clean, cosy and equipped with everything I need. I honestly don't think I'd stay anywhere else on the island. I'll definitely visit again.

The breakfasts were amazing, with generous portions and plenty to choose from, including croissants, hot cross buns and a full English. Abbie and James, who recently took over managing the hotel, went out of their way to help us. On Sunday, Abbie even invited us to have a roast dinner rather than go out. It was so good that my husband said it beat mine, and I had to agree. Grr. Our bed was very comfortable, though the hotel is still upgrading its rooms to bring them up to date. I can imagine it'll be fully modernised and refurbished by next year. The name Friends sums it up well. Thank you for looking after me, Phil and our dog Jazzy. We're definitely going back.

The hotel makes a good base for a holiday, close enough to walk into Sandown and along the lovely coast, while still feeling homely and away from the centre. Our room was clean and well kept, though a little dated, and there was private outdoor seating by the bar, which has regular entertainment. The food was good, and as a vegetarian I was very happy. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and remembered little things that helped make our stay comfortable. I'd recommend it.

I stayed here on a school trip in Year 6, and it was really good! I loved the food at the hotel and really enjoyed the party on the last day. The only thing I didn’t enjoy much was that I was in room 18, which was quite small. We weren’t really sure how to use the TV, and we found some drawings on the wall. Apart from that, I loved it! I really recommend this place if you’re looking for a hotel on the Isle of Wight.
