Local restaurant hours on Sark can be sparse during weeknights, so plan ahead if you’re staying then. The staff advised us to book directly for the best prices. I had a lovely stay here with my Mum. La Moinerie itself is charming, with a cobbled little street, lush grass and a courtyard. We enjoyed drinks in the sun outside the classic little pub. The staff were wonderfully friendly and hospitable. It’s peaceful but still close to the main avenue.

The grounds have a lot of charm, especially the old, neat little road from 1728 that runs across the property. There’s a fireplace with a bar opposite reception, a nice spot for what we’d call “refaire le monde” in French, sitting around and talking about life. I spent 2 nights at La Moinerie Village. The rooms are pretty and spacious, and the high-quality bed made for a peaceful night’s sleep. Tony and his colleagues helped from arrival to departure, including booking and suggesting local restaurants and finding me a bike to ride around the island. It’s about 20 minutes on foot from the “center,” but only 5 minutes by bike. I’d warmly recommend it.

If you’re exploring on foot, bring sturdy shoes and torches, since there’s no street lighting at all. Google Maps sent us across the corner of a field to the hotel instead of along the track past the Sark Dairy. We’ve just returned from five days at La Moinerie Village. Hosts Kevin and Ivana were welcoming and took care of everything we needed. They knew it was a special anniversary trip, so they upgraded our room and gave us a bottle of bubbly. They’re engaging, entertaining company, and shared lots of useful information about the island and what living there is like. It’s a great base for exploring Sark.

A lovely breakfast is available, and the beds are super comfortable, with plenty of hot water and excellent WiFi. The accommodation was clean, and we received a very warm welcome at La Moinerie village on beautiful Sark. It’s a great base whether you’re visiting for one night or longer, and a stone’s throw from everything. Highly recommend.

The staff were super friendly and gave us great advice. Thanks for telling us about the 5pm milking. Don’t follow Google Maps here, it takes you the long way round. Instead, take the mud path alongside the dairy, then follow the arrow to the village at the end. That path isn’t shown on Google Maps.
