Black Lion

I was appalled by how we were treated. I asked if my 8-year-old son could use the toilet and was told yes. As we walked through, we heard a woman say she was sick of this and would put a notice up over the toilets. My son then said, “Dad, I don’t think she wants me to go.” I tried to raise my concern, but was told the toilet was for paying customers. When I asked who was in charge, she said it was her and started laughing. My son is 8, has autism, and struggles at the best of times. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE.

The room was lovely and clean, and having a washbasin, tea, coffee, and a kettle in there was much appreciated. Noise from the people next door kept me awake until after 3am, even after I knocked on the wall. I had my driving test the next morning. It wasn’t the owners’ fault, just really rude guests, but I’d still recommend staying here. They probably aren’t that noisy every night, and it’s a well-run pub and accommodation.

I love the Black Lion. It’s very traditional, and I get to see my Scarborough folk there. You can book, so there’s no wait, and they’d accommodate you.

Stopped in for food recently and was really impressed. The pub was busy, but the staff were very attentive. Thanks, I’ll be back.
