Handy location, right by the Scarborough arms pub and within walking distance of everything. The rooms were warm and clean, with a warm shower, kettle, tea and coffee. The guy on duty was polite, friendly and helpful. Good, inexpensive accommodation, with nothing to fault.

I’m writing about my stay in May 2026, and the photos are very out of date. I don’t know who owns the hotel now, but we never saw the owners. They seemed to put guests in any room, whatever the size of the party. Our room was sold as a double ensuite, but was just a box room with a single bed. The carpets were filthy and stained, there was no hot running water, and the radiator had come off the wall and was propped up on the carpet by its brackets. The toilet and bathroom were down three flights of stairs on a landing, and seemed to be the only ones for at least seven rooms. When we complained, the owners claimed we hadn’t complained and refused a refund. Travelers beware. We sent supporting photos to the company we booked through.

Staff were polite and could answer some of my questions. It’s an average hotel with basic rooms. Mine had tea and coffee facilities, a TV, and an en-suite basin and toilet. The bathroom shared by four rooms was through two fire doors and up a short flight of stairs.

For the price, it wasn’t too bad, and the beds were comfortable. The shower was tiny, like one in a caravan, and the toilet flush didn’t work at all, even though the sign said it could be temperamental. There were large brown stains on the wall behind the bed, as if there’d been a roof leak, and it could use a lick of paint. The place needs updating, but fixing those small issues and repainting could easily earn it a higher rating.

If your top priority is the lowest price, this place wins hands down. I spent ages looking for the cheapest stay in Scarborough, and found it. They’ve saved money on pretty much everything, especially staff, amenities, decor, atmosphere, facilities and services. The Wi-Fi didn’t even work, which was brilliant. They could’ve cut costs further by skipping tea and coffee or not cleaning, but they did provide both. Honestly recommended.
