The first-night shower drain was badly blocked and flooded the bathroom. We got no reply from the hosts, so we had to clear it ourselves, which was disgusting. The house also felt grubby and poorly kept, making it hard to relax. We’d booked Kaitkyella Lodge for our first Christmas together, hoping for a cosy break with our dog, but there was no Christmas decoration at all. Communication was absent from the start: we arrived with hardly any instructions and no contact, left to work things out ourselves. The garden wasn’t secure, despite the place being advertised as pet friendly, so it didn’t feel safe to let our dog out alone. A woman on the farm was understandably upset that the dog might get into the sheep field, while the farm dog was free to roam all over the property, including the garden we’d booked. It was far from the festive, stress-free stay we’d hoped for, and we wouldn’t recommend booking here.
That hot tub was already hot when we arrived, and sitting in it with those incredible views was pure bliss. The room was clean and well above what we expected. Ashley and Nicola gave us clear, simple instructions and communicated really well. We also picked up food from the farm shop on site, and it was amazing. We came away for a couple of nights to relax with my wife and enjoy each other’s company, and had a great time. We loved it so much we’ve booked another stay. Thanks, Ashley and Nicola. See you soon!
The view from this fantastic lodge is something I’ll never forget. Nicola and Ashley made us feel so welcome. Can’t wait to come back!
