The Selbourne Hotel

We had a good stay, and the room was spacious and clean. The one snag was getting through the front door at night. It took us 20 minutes to get in.

I've been here for the last three weeks and the rooms have been fantastic, clean and with comfy beds. Shops are just minutes away, and the beach front is close too. I'd happily stay again next time I'm in the area, and highly recommend it.

For the price, the room was a good standard and cheaper than the competitors. It was clean and had tea and coffee facilities, plus street parking for £5 for 48 hours. The owner was friendly and helpful. The hotel sits at the top of the hill, around a 15-minute walk down to the sea front, where there are plenty of reasonably priced breakfast places.

We stayed at the Selbourne Hotel for two nights, two adults, two teenagers, a four-year-old and an 18-month-old. The first night we had two rooms, both huge, lovely and clean, with comfortable beds. The hallways had a slight musty smell, which seemed understandable in such an old property and reminded me of my granny's house. On the second night we all shared a family room with an extra bed, since we'd originally planned to stay for just one night.
