Willow Dene - Hostel

We came to Scarborough on a fact-finding trip, thinking about possibly moving somewhere in North Yorkshire for good. The two guys were really helpful with advice on where to look and information about the area, which we appreciated. I have to say Scarborough isn't my favourite place, but we're very glad we chose this B&B and would wholeheartedly recommend it. We stayed three nights over the Easter bank holiday and felt welcome from the moment we entered the house. Parking is on the road, but they gave us a permit for our stay. Our room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and there was tea, coffee, biscuits and lovely big bath towels. We had no complaints about the room. Breakfast was lovely. You order the day before, then get welcomed into the dining room, which has a huge Dr Who theme and an interesting clock. Tea or coffee and toast were served straight away. My wife Tracy had the fruit salad twice and really enjoyed it. It had fresh fruit and a great variety. The cooked breakfast arrived on a smaller plate than we expected, but it was plenty, very tasty and kept us full all day. After breakfast, the two guys would come and spend time chatting and having a laugh with guests. That was a nice change from other B&Bs where we felt in the way.

I've stayed at many Scarborough hotels, and this is easily the best of them. The accommodation is fresh, clean and absolutely immaculate. The food was delicious, with the best hotel breakfast I've ever tasted. The hosts were witty, kind, helpful and entertaining, with great people skills. Book it. It's an experience worth having.

The breakfasts were a real highlight, especially Kevin's scrambled eggs, the nicest I've ever had. There was lots to choose from, and plenty available. Our family room felt spacious and had good storage, with thoughtful extras like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, soap, squash, water, and even a sewing kit. The guest house was very clean, and you could see the hosts working hard to keep guests safe. They welcomed us warmly and were great with the children. The location made getting around easy: Peasholm Park was just a few minutes away on foot, North Bay beach was also nearby, and town and South Bay were about a 15-20 minute walk. We all enjoyed our stay at Willow Dene and hope to come back.
