The house has plenty of space, comfortable beds, a large kitchen-diner and a sunroom, but the plumbing and heating were disappointing. We were there for half term with five adults and a four-year-old, and it was very cold when we arrived, almost November. We couldn’t work out the heating, so we called the caretaker. He explained that it was on a remote timer, but when it still didn’t come on, he switched it to constant from his end and the house eventually warmed up. The radiator in the front bedroom and the one in the lounge didn’t work, so we used an oil-filled radiator in the lounge. He did his best, but for nearly £1,000 for three nights, you expect things to be right. The front bedroom smelled musty and damp. The shower room’s hot tap just spun, the bath plug control was loose, and the water pressure was hit and miss. The TV uses a Fire Stick because the roof aerial is damaged. The location is great for town and exploring the area.
