The room was 29°C while it was a pleasant 18°C outside, so if you enjoy sweating through the night, this might suit you. Opening the vent above the kitchen exhaust let in all sorts of mystery smells and still didn’t cool the room. The front was all boarded up too, which made the place look almost abandoned. At least it was on the beach.

Much appreciated the oat milk, and there were vegan breakfast choices as well as a whole vegan and vegetarian dinner menu. Really good selection for vegans.

At 8:26 I went in for a meal I know is great, and which was advertised as available until 9pm. I was told they’d stopped serving because no order had been placed for an hour. They should ask everyone checking in when they plan to eat, or get the chef to support the business and look after paying guests. That might stop people going hungry.

The restaurant was great, and we all enjoyed our evening meal. Breakfast was a hearty cooked one with a good selection of cereals and other self-serve options. Our spotless family room had a separate bedroom with its own TV, which worked well for the kids, and we could see the sea from bed. The hotel is right by the beach, with very friendly and helpful staff. The one problem was the shower, which only gave out water too hot to use, though we managed during our few days there. We really enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend it.

Thank you to everyone at the Ground Bailey for making our stay so lovely. The location is amazing and well worth the money, and I’d thoroughly recommend it as a base for the lakes. Staff were friendly, our room had lots of space and was very comfortable, and the fluffy towels were a nice touch.
