Bay Horse hotel

The people were friendly and made me feel welcome and looked after. I’d booked a room, and it was very good: clean, spacious enough, with room to work remotely, a good shower and a good heating system.

They always make you feel welcome here, and the atmosphere is great. The bingo and games afternoons are good fun.

The room was excellent value for what we paid, spotlessly clean, with a comfy bed and pillows. There was plenty of tea, coffee and milk, plus big cups, and the shower was warm with toiletries provided. We stayed for the first time on Saturday 20th September 2025 in room 6. The bar is below the rooms, so it can be noisy at night, but that’s to be expected in a pub and it didn’t spoil our stay. I can’t fault it and would stay here again.

The indifferent, impersonal service was the biggest letdown. On my recent visit, the staff member was too busy chatting, didn’t acknowledge me, and didn’t even look at me while handing over the change or respond to my thanks. The old-school pub was lovely before the refurb, and it’s still nice, but it’s lost a lot of its charm. The comfy bucket seats have been replaced by tall, uncomfortable dining chairs. Too many steps backwards, I’m afraid.
