Tushielaw Inn

The place is pretty and quiet, with a nice view from the windows and surrounding area. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy, and it's friendly for kids and dogs too. Staff were welcoming, friendly and chatty. We had really lovely, fresh food: pate to start, steak for the main and sticky toffee for dessert. Amazing quality and fast service. We had a great evening playing darts, listening to music and having drinks at a reasonable price. The next morning, breakfast was delicious, freshly made and served quickly. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Rab and Gail were charming hosts, and the food and hospitality were excellent. We stayed two nights, and I've rarely been anywhere as peaceful and lovely. The night skies were superb for astronomy, and the river running alongside really fueled your imagination. One of the best B&Bs you could wish for. We love the place and will be back.

The views from the bar and outdoor seating area are stunning. My wife Jeannie surprised me with a caravan weekend away in July 2018 for our 30th anniversary. On Sunday morning we went to the Tushielaw inn to book dinner for that night and met Rab, who we had a good chat with. We came back at 6pm, ordered drinks and sat down. Then Rab asked us to follow him to another room, where he'd laid out a table with candles. He'd never met us before. He brought our meal in and kept popping his head in to check everything was okay. His wife Gail brought our pudding. We kept thanking them both. Nothing like this had happened to us in the 30 years we'd been married. I told them it was my first ever holiday, as I'm a home lover, but after this experience I'll be having more weekends away. We're very grateful for the way Rab and Gail treated us. Even if you don't get the same treatment we did, pop in if you're in the area to meet them and see the weird and wonderful collection Rab has gathered over many years. Thanks again, Rab and Gail. A lovely place to get away from it all and explore the border region. It's a wonderful, laid back, traditional Inn, with nice rooms, a comfy bed and plenty of tea and coffee. Can't wait to return for a bit longer next time.
