Woodlands

We had 13 people staying at Woodlands over Christmas, with plenty of room for everyone and even some bedrooms left unused. The house is huge, warm, cosy and incredibly well equipped. The Christmas tree in the hall was a lovely touch. It’s just a short walk or drive into Settle for shops and amenities, and there are loads of walks right nearby. The photos don’t really do this lovely house in its perfect location justice. We’d recommend it 100%.

My extended family had a weekend at Woodlands in December 2025 and we all loved it. It’s a gorgeous house and good value per person, especially with so many bedrooms. The location just outside Settle is ideal, with plenty of nearby walks. The weather was pretty murky, but nobody minded at all. The house is so lovely to spend time in, and being in together meant we actually interacted more than we might have on walks. I’m trying not to sound too keen because I want to book it again this year, and getting my family to agree on dates is hard! Thanks, David, for a lovely stay.

A large, characterful house, and the owners communicated well. It’s in a fantastic spot for walking to great local pubs or into Settle. We had a family weekend there, and the big dining room could fit everyone from our group, which used 12 rooms.

Woodlands was the perfect place for our family reunion, and gave us the most magical weekend. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this stay made me want to. The house is a beautifully restored period property in a secluded spot, with huge views across the Yorkshire Dales that kept changing. It had something for everyone. The children were busy exploring and finding hiding places around the house and gardens. Does a panda live in the bamboo den? The youngest loved hearing trains whistle as they left Settle and watching them go across the valley. There were plenty of comfortable spaces for the adults to relax and spend time together. The musician in our group played tunes on the piano, and the kitchen was just right for our self-catering group. The beds were really comfortable, the nights were quiet, and the birdsong made us feel close to nature. We walked along the woodland track, which leads straight into the Yorkshire countryside and to the two dog-friendly pubs down the hill. When we needed supplies, we walked to Settle market town, about 15 minutes away, instead of taking the car. It was a lovely way to spend time with our loved ones, and we made so many special memories. A real escape. Thank you, David, and Olive, your canine companion. We hope to book again.
